Rogues Bard - Poetry - It Makes You Think
IT MAKES YOU THINK (It’s Ironic)
It makes you think doesn’t it
All those people, all those flowers
I was there, me and our Julie
And the kiddies..(they didn’t understand
the fuss , of course)
And Jack..my husband He watched it
On the telly in our local pub.
I mean..it was an occasion of national importance
I had to be there.. to pay my respects..
The wedding was lovely,,
I was there as well of course
I took some lovely photographs then
And I’ve followed her ever since//
I bought all the papers..and all the magazines
And I’ve got all the biographies..
I thought she was one of my own.
There’ nothing I didn’t know about that girl.
It was such a shame about the divorce.
But it wasn;t her fault….I mean..
You only had to look at her to see that..
She was So beautiful (I got all the photographs..)
So sad.. and so misunderstood...
I’ll never forget when she posed on
The steps of that Taj Mahal place..
(Not the Indian restaurant.. The REAL thing)
All alone.. poor thing..
It was a lovely day for the service..
The weather was beautiful..
All those millions of people
All sobbing together
And they didn’t even know her
“A Nation United In Grief”
That’s what the papers said..
I bought them all…all the papers
As souvenirs for my grandkids..
There’s nothing I didn’t know about that girls life
I blame them Paparazzi..
Hounding her to the grave like that..
Intruding on her privacy.
It was disgraceful
So I had to go..to show my respects
It was a lovely day
I took some beautiful photographs..
Especially of that Prince William..
He’s one to watch for the future..
He’ll make some girl a lovely husband..
They’re talking of making Althrope a shrine
.Like Gracelands..That’s a lovely idea..
I was a real Elvis fan..a lovely man
So misunderstood…. So lonely
(They would have made a lovely couple)
I heard someone say it wasn;t genuine grief
Just mass hysteria and symptomatic
Of a society obsessed with image over content..
Mass hysteria ? What rubbish..
I know.. I was there..
All those people.. sobbing their hearts out..
And they didn’t even know her..
That makes you think..
Doesn’t It ?
